Discover the past. Celebrate the present. Shape the future.

Redhill Rising is a major youth arts project led by Franklin Music CIC in partnership with Include.org, Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, with support from the Mayor and the Belfry Centre.

This summer, young performers are invited to take part in a unique performing arts project inspired by the rich stories, legends, and history of Redhill, Surrey.

During the summer workshops, participants will collaborate with professional artists to devise original performances using theatre, music, and movement — culminating in free public performances at St John’s Church, Earlswood.

Rising Project participation options

Schools can take part in a Rising Project in one of three ways:

01 | £150
Half-day artist-led workshop

A Franklin Music professional delivers an artist-led workshop in school, introducing pupils to the local history, music, inclusion work and performance material at the heart of the project.

This includes:

  • artist-led workshop delivery
  • access to the Rising Project music and learning resources
  • preparation for the public performance
  • a Rising Project T-shirt for each participating child
  • guaranteed places in the public performance, subject to agreed group numbers and practical arrangements
02 | £285
Full-day artist-led workshop

A longer artist-led school workshop, allowing more time to explore the local heritage, music, creativity and inclusion work in greater depth.

This includes:

  • full-day artist-led workshop delivery
  • access to the Rising Project music and learning resources
  • preparation for the public performance
  • a Rising Project T-shirt for each participating child
  • guaranteed places in the public performance, subject to agreed group numbers and practical arrangements
03 | Free
Self-led participation

Schools receive access to the Rising Project music and learning resources to use independently. Self-led participation does not automatically guarantee a place in the public performance.

Schools wishing to join the public performance will need to:

  • take part in a short preparation visit from a Franklin Music professional
  • make an affordable donation towards the visit
  • ensure children are confident with the music, signing and performance requirements
  • fund a Rising Project T-shirt for each participating child
  • meet final performance capacity and practical requirements

Workshop fees and indicative T-shirt costs are published separately for each Rising Project.

The Redhill Rising Concert

All participating schools will come together for a mass community performance at the Belfry Shopping Centre, Redhill, on Thursday 16 April 2026.

This joyful event will showcase the voices of hundreds of local young people, supported by Include Choir and Franklin Voices.

Together they will celebrate Redhill’s past, present, and future through music, storytelling, and inclusive performance. Families, friends, and the whole community are warmly invited to attend.

Get involved with Redhill Rising

Redhill Rising is continuing beyond the performance as an ongoing community heritage project, and we would love you to be part of it.

We are gathering creative responses to Redhill Rising and to the story of our town. This could include artwork, photography, writing, music, school projects or any other creative ideas that reflect Redhill’s past, present and future.

There will also be opportunities to take part in upcoming activity, including our Youth Choir and a community flash mob performance at the Belfry on 5 September as part of Arts Takeover week.

If you are a school, community group, organisation or individual with an idea or something to share, we would love to hear from you.

Please add a ‘Contact us’ link at the end of this section so people can get in touch for more information or to tell us about their group, school or ideas.
